The barrique cellar
One of the most interesting architectural features of the Cantina is the enormous barrel cellar, built in 1970 to house 260 oak barrels. It measures 2500 square metres and was built 15 metres underground in the gravelly subsoil under the Cellar: it provides the very best conditions for ageing in an environment which features constant temperature and humidity.

In 2003 renovation work led to the elimination of around half of the large barrels, 132 of which have survived, with capacities of 40, 80 and 120 hl. In their place about 200 225-litre barriques have been installed, 15 500-litre casks and 15 20 hl barrels made of oak and acacia.

La barrique cellar today is also open to guests visiting the cellars. Because of its huge size, human presence has a negligible influence of ageing conditions: we have therefore set up an itinerary through the cellar which illustrates the history and culture of winegrowing in Breganze with evidence of the centuries of history surrounding the vine in this area.

The barrique cellar also represents the ideal place to taste Beato Bartolomeo wines at the end of the itinerary which forms the visit to the Cantina.
